YouTube
I have recently spent quite a bit of time playing with YouTube, the web based video Viewing web-site.
This site allows a person to search for video clips and sometimes throws up gems from the past.
I urge you to give it a try. I recently had great pleasure in reviewing a great car chase with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore from the Persuaders Television series.
The Prisoner
e the schene, a man drives his Lotus Seven sports car at speed through the streets of London.
Music blasts from the screen and asaults your ears, you know that something dramatic is about to happen. He enters a building and storms purposefully down an empty corridor. Where is he going in such a hurry and why does he look so angry?
The man enters an office and has a blazing row with another man in a suit.
These are the opening scenes from one of the most interesting and mysterious shows ever to be seen on television, The Prisoner.
Televiision music
I watch a fair bit of television as you might imagine. These days I am a little disappointed with television theme music, perhaps it might be worth me exploring why in the little piece below.
Modern shows such as Heroes for example has great character related themes throughout the show such as Claire's theme and Hiro's tune but the actual theme that opens and closes the show is not something that you find yourself humming or whistling the next day at work nor does it invoke visions of great heroism or adventure.
Nostalgia is what it used to be on ITV4
I remember as a kid watching such programmes as The Champions, The Saint And Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, especially as reruns. I was not so nostalgic about some of the other shows like The New Avengers or The Professionals until I recently bought a television with Freeview installed into it. perhaps because these are a little newer than my treasured first choice selections from my youth.
The Saint - on ITV4 now!
The Televisio Treasure, The Saint starring Roger Moore is on television at the moment, it's on the ITV4 channel.
Yes it may not be The Saint as he appeared in the books and stories by Leslie Charteris, yes the programme may not have reached the standards expected by Mr Charteris, but nevertheless it is a great television series.
Of course Roger Moore makes this character come alive, with his good looks he's the sort of man that women find attractive, men admire and as The Saint that the ungodly fear.
Cyrano De Bergerac starring Derek Jacobi
In my collection I have Cyrano de Bergerac - 1985 starred Derek Jacobi & Sinead Cusack on laser disc, as far as I know the programme never appeared on video or DVD - but it is now available on YouTube collected here for you to enjoy.
Act 1
SFX Weekender 2010
What a way to start your weekend, seeing a Dalek and a replica full size Tardis with seaside type pictures of David Tennant's Doctor Who and Star Trek characters from the recently released movie with holes where their faces were for fun photographs was a great treat that paled in comparrison to the events that were to follow.
The event was the 2010 SFX Weekender at the Pontins Holiday Camp at Camber Sands on the English South Coast.
